Survey Technician / Senior Surveyor

Job Description:

Gather and process survey information on the various survey, accounting and CADD systems to draw plans and models of the mining and other areas to enable efficient decision making by stakeholders

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum criteria:

• Chamber of Mines Elementary Survey Certificate / Advanced Survey
• Basic or Advanced Microstation Certificate
• Code 08 Drivers Licence
• Chamber of Mines Draughting Certificate will be an advantage
• Chamber of Mines Valuation certificate will be an advantage
• This post is dependent on being declared medically, physical fit and security clearance
• Willingness to work overtime from time to time based on operational needs

Experience:

• 4 years mining survey experience
• Minimum of 2 years open cast experience
• 2 - 3 years Microstation CADD experience

Key Performance Areas:

• Adherence to the MHSA and survey code of practice
• Measuring of drill and blast patterns - open pit mining
• Working knowledge in deducing volumes and quantities for all mining and processing areas
• Compiling of month - end production reports
• Setting of out of mine infrastructure
• Maintain and update inventory of all working mine plans

Skills/ Competencies:

• Must be able to use 2D -3D Microstation, Terramodeller or similar, GPS, Surpac (Keith Young)
• Ensure adherence to the company’s Safety, Health and Environmental management programmes.
• Networking and Teamwork skills.
• Analysis and interpretation of information
• Independence, self-reliance and self-motivation
• Knowledge of Gemcom will be an advantage

Situated about 35kms North of Kroonstad in the Free State, the mine offers great opportunity to talented people living nearby areas. The mine is an open-pit operation with a life of mine of 2020. At full production, the mine will process 4 million tons of ore per annum.
