  • This position works under the general direction of the Group Environmental and Safety Manager and Site Operations Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for assuring the facility remains compliant with applicable US environmental and safety regulations. In this position the incumbent is required to work independently and make decisions that can have a direct impact on the compliance status of the site and business group. The incumbent may be required to assist the Group Environmental and Safety Manager with various compliance related initiatives or gaps at other Group Sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Key responsibilities include coordinating and managing the sites emergency planning, developing, managing and implementing site specific Environmental and Safety policies and training programs to assure compliance with the site, supervise other personnel on site responsible for environment and safety compliance, and provide technical support and troubleshoot air pollution and wastewater treatment equipment which the Torrance facility depends on for production to operate its wet processing facility.

Requirements:

  • Requires BS degree in the field of chemical, environmental engineering or chemistry or environmental sciences.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the field of environmental and safety regulatory compliance, in a manufacturing setting. 
  • Proven capabilities and competencies in waste management, emergency response to chemical spills, and OSHA compliance.
  • Proven capabilities and competencies in South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), Department of Toxic Substances (DTSC), Los Angeles County Sanitation District (LACSD), Proposition 65 and California Proposition 65, California OSHA and California EPA. Must have or be able to obtain certification to hazardous waste management rules for California within 6 months of hire date and must then retain certification annually.
