Automation Technician-ENI-position is with Operations and Maintenance

Position Summary:

  • The Automation Technician is responsible for providing technician services for the facility/pipeline.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of automation systems
  • Complete redlines on drawings, procedures, and other documents as needed
  • Work with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Projects to ensure efficient work practices and deliver overall system reliability
  • Perform equipment maintenance i.e. Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and plant communication systems
  • Create and maintain records, including but not limited to maintenance records, work logs
  • Work with FCO Team as the maintenance witness for automation
  • Review start up and operational spares
  • Support predictive maintenance development
  • Identify required vendor training
  • Support a “Zero Incident Culture”
  • Primary DCS system is Delta V, BPCS, and SIS. In addition to several vendor supplied Rockwell PLC's.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and use of the work permitting system to safely control work processes
  • Working knowledge of distributive control systems and Ed Farmer leak detection
  • Ability to work well independently and cooperatively with others
  • Ability to demonstrate and promote teamwork to ensure maintenance consistency and operational continuity
  • Strong written and oral communications required.
  • Ability to create real time and historical reports.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with other employees. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, climb, lift, balance, stoop, and handle materials. The employee must regularly lift and move up to forty (40) pounds and occasionally lifts and moves up to fifty (50) pounds. Often required to perform heavy work outside in multi-weather conditions. Work is performed from ladders and scaffolds. Audible safety alarms and warnings in work area. The majority of work is performed in an Industrial setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Five (5) years’ experience performing industrial maintenance as an automation technician or an instrument technician with industrial (e.g., petroleum industry, power plant, large mines, chemical process plants, etc.) instrumentation, electrical and control systems. (Note: Technical industrial education at a college/university or trade school in petroleum or instrumentation technology, electrical engineering or a directly related field may be substituted for some of the required experience) required.
  • Three (3) years’ experience IBM, PC, Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and database systems (e.g., Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) required.
  • Valid driver’s license including ability to be insured by [Company] auto insurer required. (*All applicants must provide an acceptable five year DMV record at the time of offer).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Petrochemical, oilfield or arctic experience preferred.

Degree Required

  • High School or GED
