Safety & Industrial Hyg /Compliance COOP - DGC (Summer 2012)

Job Description

  • Applicable pay rate: $20.45/hour. Primary job responsibility will be to assist the Safety and Industrial Hygiene  and Compliance staff with administration of the Company's safety and industrial hygiene programs in accordance with company, state and federal regulations. Incumbent will collect analytical and statistical information and produce reports. Also will assist with the investigation of accidents/incidents and complaints; review and analysis of facility and employee safety issues; and performance of inspections and audits.
  • Benefits: On-site medical services. Exercise facility available. Reimbursement for cooperative education course tuition and fees up to 4 credit hours.
  • Relocation: Mileage for relocation at a rate of $.23/mile. Payment for rental of trailer or truck, for movement of household goods, up to a maximum of $500. Reimbursement for meals while enroute. Temporary lodging up to a maximum of five days to locate living quarters. Payments of deposits and expenses for connecting utilities. This amount must be refunded at the conclusion of the Cooperative Education term.  Safety boots are required and will be reimbursed up to $150.

Required Skills

  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching below shoulder level, and use of keyboard/computer; and occasional stooping, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, reaching above shoulder level, crawling, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds, use of tools, and turning valves. Frequently requires lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Requires good finger dexterity, ability to perform close work, good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. Frequently, may be exposed to fumes, chemicals, and noise and occasionally exposed to extreme heat, cold, dirt, dust, and poor ventilation when working in field conditions. May also require working in high climbing areas requiring use of safety equipment; and may involve work in confined spaces to take measurements. Equipment operated includes small hand tools, air sampling pumps, and noise monitors. Requires the ability to handle diverse assignments and to work in a team environment.

Required Experience

  • Requires familiarity with PC based tools including Microsoft Office Suite. This position requires completion of a minimum of two years in a Safety or Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Engineering, or Chemical Engineering curriculum.
