Site Assessment & Remediation Project Manager

From our offices in Calgary, Lloydminster, Ft. McMurray and Inuvik, KCB’s Alberta Group works on challenging projects in the oil sands developments, in the onshore and offshore oil and gas industry, and in traditional mining, infrastructure and water resources markets.  Our projects include all aspects of tailings management, dam designs, pipelines, offshore drilling islands, plant site foundation engineering, hydrogeology, hydrotechnical, environmental and reclamation services.

This Site Assessment & Remediation Project Manager role located in our Calgary office, provides opportunities in site assessment and remediation projects for upstream and downstream producing and abandoned oil and gas facilities. The successful candidate will report to the Site Assessment & Remediation Team Lead.

Position Summary:

This role provides opportunities in remediation, reclamation and monitoring projects for oil and gas facilities, landfills, industrial land and Defence sites.  Organizational and leadership skills are a key consideration for this position.  The role requires some travel to remote work sites.

Our technical services include soil, groundwater and vegetation assessments, and remedial designs for contaminated sites.  The project work is largely centered in Alberta and the Northern Canadian Territories. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support in the following areas:

  • Responsible for major client
  • Project/client management
  • Supervising contractors
  • Cost estimating and tracking
  • Detailed Site Assessments (DSA)
  • Logging soil boreholes
  • Soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring
  • Managing project logistics
  • Writing proposals
  • Writing Environmental Site Assessment reports
  • Liability assessments
  • Managing budgets & schedules
  • Business development
  • Mentoring of junior staff
  • Peer review
  • Preparing & completing soil monitoring / management programs and groundwater monitoring programs
  • Remediation & reclamation plans.

This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work with a diverse and experienced team.  The role offers involvement in all aspects of projects from start to finish.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree specializing in Soil Science, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or, a Technology qualification (T.T., CTECH, C.E.T) appropriate to the work description.
  • 5-10 years experience in site assessment, remediation and reclamation in the oil and gas industry in Canada.
  • A proven ability to work with project teams.
  • Good communication and report writing skills, in English.
  • Eligible for registration with the AIA, APEGGA, or ASET
  • Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally.

Additional desirable qualifications:

  • Alberta or Northern Canadian Territories experience is preferential, but not a pre-requisite.
  • Experience with gINT, Surfer, GIS or AutoCAD software
  • Project Management training from PSMJ, ASFE, or equivalent institutions
