  • We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator for our manufacturing facility in Baltimore, Maryland.  This position provides leadership and support including day to day management of environmental programs to ensure outstanding performance and compliance with governmental regulations. The EHS Coordinator will assist in improving EHS performance; decreasing costs through improvements and waste reduction activities and insuring that plant operations meet all applicable regulatory requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure that all required environmental permits are obtained and maintained in accordance
  • with all Local, State, and Federal requirements.  Maintenance reporting includes but is not
  • limited to: Proforma; SARA (chemical inventories, air emissions); RCRA (waste disposal);
  • NPDES (storm water discharge); CAA (air releases); CWA/POTW (sanitary water discharge).
  • Negotiate environmental permit conditions and limits with agency personnel which will
  • not adversely impact plant operations but will also be protective of the environment
  • and will not harm the Company’s external image and relationships.
  • Coordinate the plant Waste Management program, including storage, manifesting,
  • recordkeeping, and disposal site selection. Work independently with Corporate EHS to
  • identify and evaluate alternative disposal methods to reduce costs and minimize impact to
  • the environment.
  • Develop and implement a wide variety of EHS related training programs. Programs will
  • include training at all levels of the organization.
  • Manage the collection and evaluation of all industrial hygiene data including but not
  • limited to chemical, noise and other physical agents, and ergonomics. Communicate
  • findings and propose corrective measures while working closely with operating
  • departments.
  • Assist with the implementation of the plant's safety process by leading plant EHS teams,
  • conducting audits and inspections, developing plans and programs and representing the
  • department as necessary. Serve as an active member of the plant's EHS Council and
  • provide leadership in the EHS pillar as part of the TPM process.
  • Facilitate the administration of the Plant's occupational medical program. Work closely with
  • the plant physician, nurse and corporate worker's compensation specialists to ensure that 
  • all compensation claims are handled in accordance with The Sun Products Corporation
  • guidelines. Assist with the implementation and evaluation of the medical surveillance
  • testing program (hearing, PFTs, respirator fit tests)

Job Requirements:
Education, Experience, And Training Requirements For The Job:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Safety, Health or Environmental related field; advanced degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Sciences or Environmental preferred.
  • Three or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • C.I.H., C.S.P., or other professional certification a plus

Job Skills Required For The Job:

  • Demonstrated influential leadership
  • Must have good follow-up skills and be detail oriented.
  • Must have excellent written oral and communication skills.
  • Must be capable of communicating technical ideas and results to nontechnical personnel.
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills.

Additional Comments:

  • Must pass a drug test.
  • Must have work hour flexibility to meet business needs.  Extended hours, occasional holidays and occasional work on shift may be required.
  • Must be accessible by telephone and have access to transportation.
  • Occasional travel to other facilities as needed.
