Help our Facilities Services team deliver safe, reliable, high-quality facilities engineering, operations, and maintenance programs that focus on enhancing the life-cycle and performance output of our clients' assets. Our Pressure Vessel Inspector jobs provide you with an opportunity to develop and manage key client relationships while you take responsibility for inspecting all non-fired pressure vessels and related equipment throughout a 10M square foot facility. This is a very “Hands on" field work position. Each day, you will drive the success of our projects by providing expert visual inspection of this vital equipment, taking ownership for the safety of the users of the equipment. You should be a self-motivated professional with 5 or more years’ experience in the design, construction, testing and QC of pressure vessels, and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each Inspector job.

Our Non-Fired Pressure Vessel Inspectors:

  • Are experienced (3-5 years minimum) in the Design, construction, testing, quality control all related to pressure vessels.
  • Ideally, will have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, but solid knowledge, experience and certifications will suffice. Qualifications as an NDE examiner of boiler and pressure vessels meeting ASNT Level II or III (qualified by examination) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Hold current/active National Board In service Commission or will be able to achieve commission within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Are computer savvy, demonstrating solid knowledge of SAP equipment maintenance module, or other CMMS.
  • Work well in a customer-oriented environment.
  • Provide visual inspection of vessels which will consist of an external inspection of the vessel and it's piping to discern potential issues. Additionally, any relief devices, insulation, supports, etc. shall be noted if concerns are identified. After each visual inspection the vessel datasheet will be completed and the SAP records updated with any follow-up requirements documented.
  • Perform visual inspection to provide information regarding the overall condition of the vessel. The external visual inspection of the un-fired pressure vessels shall consist of the following inspection criteria.
  • Successfully develop and manage solid client and team relationships.

Additional information regarding the expectations of this role:

  • The purpose of the visual inspection is to determine the condition of the vessel and its suitability for continued use.
  • The exact visual inspection procedure varies with the vessel and with operating conditions.
  • Careful consideration will be given to factors that might affect the safe operation of each vessel. The following items are not complete for all vessels but are considered to be representative of most pressure vessels.
  • Pressure Vessel shell shall be visually examined for cracks, excessive corrosion, or other defects. Insulation or other coverings need only be removed for inspection if unsafe conditions are suspected.
  • Head surfaces shall be visually examined for cracks, excessive corrosion or other defects.
  • The head shall be examined for distortion or other signs of strain with special attention to the knuckle area.
  • Welded joints shall be visually inspected for possible cracks, excessive corrosion or other defects. Both inner and outer surfaces shall be examined except, if the weld appears sound, insulation or other coverings need not be removed, unless unsafe conditions are suspected.
  • Nozzles and other openings shall be visually examined for evidence of distortion, corrosion and cracks. Particular attention shall be given to the necks and to reinforcing pads. Threaded openings not covered by insulation shall be visually examined to determine the condition of the threads.
  • Insulated vessels shall be visually inspected to assure the integrity of the insulation and to ensure that no corrosion is taking place under the insulation. If cracks or other openings are found, portions of the insulation may be removed, if necessary, to check for corrosion.
  • If distortion of a vessel is suspected, the dimensions shall be checked.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in the design, construction, testing and/or quality control of pressure vessels
  • BS in Engineering, or related field; or additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree
