Analyst, Import / Export Compliance

Position Summary

  • The Import/Export Analyst is responsible for maintenance of import/export compliance data based on U.S. Customs and country specific trade laws.

Principal Duties:

  • Classification of [Company] product and third party capital equipment using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and General Rules of Interpretation, other tariff regulatory information, engineering drawings and/or vendor part drawings, Bills of Material, etc.
  • Country of Origin determination based on evaluation of bills of materials and maintaining that information in compliance databases.
  • Determination of eligibility of parts for treatment under free trade agreements such as NAFTA.
  • Ensuring that proper documentation, such as Certificates of Origin, are collected and filed per company procedures.
  • Respond to internal and external classification inquiries.
  • Other responsibilities may include:
  • Export Control Classification Number determination.
  • Writing Certificate of Origin, NAFTA, FCC and other documents as required.
  • Maintenance of department metrics.
  • Continuous improvement of departmental processes.
  • Maintenance of departmental procedures.
  • Back-up to senior analysts.
  • Ability to read and understand Bills of Material, engineering drawings and other technical data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Material. Experience in electronics preferred.
  • Import/Export classification experience is preferred.
  • Strong, verifiable data management and analysis skills utilizing MS Access and MS Excel.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Detail oriented with strong problem solving skills.
  • Willing to work in a dynamic/flexible work environment.
