Chemist / Laboratory Supervisor

Our client is a mid-tier mining company with several global operations, strong cash flow generation and excellent exploration potential at all sites. On their behalf we are seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced Chemists for this Queensland based position.

You will assume responsibility for the efficient management of the site analytical laboratory and be responsible for the team of laboratory and metallurgy technicians providing analytical services to the metallurgy and processing department.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring accurate and reliable data is produced from the laboratory in a timely manner, this includes but is not limited to daily shift composites, metallurgical test work and environmental samples;
  • Promote and develop innovative solutions to improve laboratory safety, performance and costs;
  • Oversee routine analysis performed by laboratory staff;
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in good working order and report any malfunctions and promoting a safe work culture;
  • Develop and implement procedures for non routine testing to be carried out on reagent deliveries;
  • Develop a QA / QC programme;
  • Oversee the recommencement of onsite geological grade control assays.

You will possess a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry), Associate Diploma in Chemistry or similar and it is desirable that you have previous exposure to the mining industry. An effective communicator with proven leadership qualities you will be able to provide technical knowledge and training to laboratory staff and have knowledge and operational skills of instrumental methods.

This position can be either residentially based in an idyllic location in Australia, with company housing provided or DIDO from the coast.
