Senior Structural Engineer

A position has become available in the Project Delivery Group for a Senior Structural Engineer within the Structural Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Work to ensure the implementation of safety and integrity principles in my Clients structural documentation.
• Act as Responsible Engineer on nominated projects.
• Participate in preparation of fee estimates and bids.
• Supervision of structural design teams and sub-consultants.
• Co-ordination of structural project work carried out.
• Co-ordinate performance of the work with plant operations and maintenance personnel.
• Project and Engineering Management of multi-discipline plant engineering projects.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities.
• Accept authority to sign off IFC drawings on supervisor agreed scope.
• Solicit pricing from contractors and suppliers.
• Construction supervision of multi-discipline plant engineering projects.
• Maintaining technical knowledge to ensure appropriate technologies are incorporated into designs and most cost effective design techniques are utilised.
• Maintain structural engineering work procedures, specifications, and computer aided design programs.
• Assist in the development of Graduate engineers.
• Actively participate in marketing Structural Assets to customers
• Ensure project work exceeds the customer’s expectations.

Requirements

Essential

• 15+ years structural design experience in the mining / minerals processing industry.
• Degree qualification in Civil / Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer or Technologist
• Experience on Structural Design programs such as PROKON, STRAND or similar
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multi discipline project teams.
• Design experience with modulised construction.
• High-level analytical skills using FEA software.
• Sound knowledge of design codes.
• Sound knowledge the mining / minerals processing industry.
• Strong customer focus.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable

• Experience with Space Gas Structural Analysis Software.
• Experience with Nastran FEA software.
• Analysis/design experience with mobile materials handling machinery
