Senior Development Engineer - Control Systems

Greater Manchester

Established for over 100 years, our client is one of the largest suppliers of specialist machinery to a number of different sectors including Mining, Oil and Gas and Steel. They have an international customer base and are world renowned for engineering expertise and quality, over the next couple of months they will be relocating to brand new facilities.

The recruitment of the Senior Development Engineer is instrumental to the ongoing success and growth of the company. As part of their innovation and new product development, they have identified an opportunity to gain competitive advantage and provide customers with a more bespoke solution by introducing PLC based control systems. Within the capabilities of the current engineering team, there is a lack of in depth knowledge of control and drive systems in order to achieve this objective, this person then will be the in house expert in this technology and its application in their target industries.

This person will be coming into the organisation with an in depth knowledge of the design and development of PLC based control and drive systems and be a senior member of the engineering team and the cornerstone of a planned new product design team. Because of the sectors that the organisation works with, it is essential that this person has experience in working with equipment used in hazardous environments, in which knowledge of ATEX requirements is applicable. A knowledge or experience of project management will also be useful in helping the team achieve their future objectives.

It is assumed that this person will have achieved academic success in the engineering field and have and be an industry authority on this technology. They should also be a strong team player, who has a desire to lead and contribute to a successful and passionate team. They will need the ability articulate their knowledge to the appropriate level and also have a commercial understanding of innovation. They will need to be a strong communicator both using formal and informal channels.

The salary package is flexible for the right calibre of person but we will target a basic salary of £40,000 to £45,000.
