CNC Vertical Mill Operator
Responsibilities
- Perform duties to operate one (1) CNC vertical machine to perform machining operations.
- Work from instructions using routers, setup sheets, machining drawings and computer numerical control programs.
- Perform operations such as drilling, reaming, tapping, boring, milling, counter boring and countersinking various details, weldments, forgings, castings and machined parts.
- Determine part-staging sequence for optimum machine utilization and set up parts for machining on multi-station table.
- Load and operate computerized numerical control from electronic storage devices, program files and/or manual data input.
- Prove out new programs and make corrections as necessary.
- Use probe to insure proper part location and orientation on machine.
- Select, obtain and setup tooling and load into automatic tool changers as required.
- Adjust feeds and speeds; replace cutting tools or adjust as necessary to achieve exacting tolerances and specified surface finishes.
- Inspect parts as necessary.
- Maintain program and manuscript files.
- Assist Engineering and supervision to make improvements to parts, methods and fixturing.
- Maintain necessary systems inputs and outputs as required.
- Move materials in work area using material handling equipment.
- Assist maintenance in troubleshooting and perform minor maintenance duties such as maintaining fluid levels and lubricating machines.
- Clean, deburr and mark identification on parts as required.
- Use PC and/or barcode equipment to support SFC, MRP, and labor reporting systems.
Qualifications
- Applicants must possess an educational background in machining and/or at least one year of hands on machining experience.
- Use metric rules, scales, all various precision metric measuring tools, gauges, fixtures, overhead bridge crane, pneumatic power hand tools, walkie and riding fork truck.
