Job Description
- [Company] Minnesota Ore Operations includes two open pit mines and production facilities in Northern MN (Minntac in Mt. Iron and Keetac in Keewatin) and has the following vacancy at the Minntac facility:
- The position requires previous experience working for U. S. Steel in a management position and the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of maintenance in the areas of the grate, kiln, and cooler agglomerating systems. Additionally, the successful candidate must be an independent individual with the ability to recognize and make decisions that affect maintenance activities in the Agglomerator Department.
- The responsibilities of the position may include, but are not limited to, working with operations, maintenance, and outside contractors to assist in developing and executing projects, updates, and structural repairs in the Agglomerator; supporting the maintenance department and management to develop and/or improve repair specifications for various agglomerating equipment and to ensure that parts essential to repairs and upgrades are being fabricated and built as requested and on-time; and assisting with training new maintenance managers and mentoring existing maintenance managers.
- This position is also responsible for administering the U. S. Steel Safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the assigned facility. The candidates may also be assigned other short term projects as dictated by the needs of the organization.
- All successful candidates are subject to background checks, pre-employment physical examinations, and drug and alcohol screening.
