Equipment Technician

Job Description:

  • [Company] is currently working with our client near Hanover, MD who is seeking an Equipment Technician to perform preventative maintenance and repairs of semiconductor processing equipment on the production line.

Essential Functions:

  • Trouble-shoot and repair semiconductor fabrication equipment
  • Be responsible for equipment up time in a manufacturing environment
  • Assign, schedule, and perform the maintenance and repair work of equipment; respond to emergency site maintenance as required; confer with and advise other management personnel regarding maintenance projects and priorities.
  • Perform skilled work in one or more of the following maintenance trades areas: Installation of compressed gas, cryogenic and exhaust lines, electrical connections, plumbing, leak testing, electrical circuit testing and repair.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and document procedures as detailed in the equipment specification and equipment manuals of each tool
  • Estimate labor and material costs for replacement, repair, alterations and improvements of equipment; order materials and supplies; test, select, and purchase of maintenance supplies, spare parts, and equipment.
  • Negotiate service contracts and supervise vendors when needed
  • Ensure tool safety; document and maintain PM schedule
  • Train technicians to implement preventative maintenance on select tools
  • Coordinate and supervise the relocation of equipment and utilities within the building; coordinate the installation of utilities if needed.
  • Consult with architects and engineers; coordinate projects with maintenance and site personnel and outside contractors, inspect work in progress and upon completion; oversee selected deferred maintenance projects;
  • Maintain a variety of records and prepare reports; review reports on costs of work done, materials used, and labor expended. Communicate downtimes with managers.
  • Maintain adequate levels of tools, equipment, and other maintenance supplies.
  • Inspect and evaluate work in progress by maintenance projects, after work hours and on weekends; respond to emergency site maintenance after hours and on weekends.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • Experienced with semiconductor fabrication equipment
  • Vacuum systems
  • High-voltage (HV) and radio frequency (RF) power supplies
  • E-beam and sputter deposition systems
  • Plasma deposition and etching systems
  • Photolithography equipment: spin coaters, mask aligners
  • Other equipment: tube furnaces, metrology tools (thickness, profilometer, CD), wet process decks, spin rinse dryers
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment and tools used in the repair and maintenance of semiconductor fabrication equipment and its support equipment
  • Principles of budget preparation and control
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices (OSHA)
  • Computerized maintenance work-order system and other maintenance computer applications
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials management and environmental requirements
  • Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, code and regulations.
