Application Safety Engineer

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Application Safety Engineer is responsible for performance of risk analyses and hazard analyses for integrated system-of-system applications as directed by the Application Safety Subsection Manager. The Application Safety Engineer will contribute to the development of safety cases and validation reports relating to system-level safety.

Essential Responsibilities

Execute the hazard analysis, required to support identification of safety requirements in accordance with business standards and program / product objectives
Development of generic application safety cases and specific application safety cases
Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
Document and communicate results of technical data generated
Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
Share information and promote open dialogue
Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

Desired Characteristics

Minimum of 3 years of experience in signaling system engineering
Minimum of 3 years of experience in system safety engineering
Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems
Familiarity with Hazard Analysis per IEEE 1483:2000, MIL STD 882C and/or CENELEC 50126, 50128, and 50129
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
PC proficiency
