Mine Surveyors

Our client is the producer of precious metals in the mining industry. They have been well established for over 80 years. They are regarded as one of the leading mining houses in South Africa and globally.

Required abilities:

  • Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency
  • IMSSA
  • Competent as 2.12.7 appointment and 17.1a if no Chief Surveyor
  • 5 years experience in mine surveying
  • Additional experience in Mine Evaluation, must obtain MS (PLATO) membership after appointment.
  • Valid drivers license code 08
  • Computer literate for necessary systems
Advantageous: 
  • Graduate Degree in Engineering, National Higher Diploma, B Tech 

Responsibilities

  • The Shaft Surveyor is responsible for managing the specialist survey and evaluation services and expertise at a shaft. The work focus timeframe is 1 to 5 years but some plans may have a longer timeframe. 
  • In terms of the MSHA it is a 2.12.7 appointment.

Technical work responsibilities:

  • Underground sampling and valuation
  • Draughting layouts and DME plans
  • Appropriate survey equipment
  • Underground surveying
  • Monthly measurement and reporting
  • Layouts (in conjunction with Planning)
  • Specialist training for relevant personnel

Core work outputs:

  • The core work output of the role is to provide survey and valuation services to support of the business plans of a shaft within the framework of applicable legislation.
  • Effective survey and valuation services to support mine performance
  • Legal Compliance Survey
  • Mine Survey Plans
  • Monthly Survey Measurements
  • Effectiveness of the ER team
