Project Manager

The Project Manager plans and directs all specialized engineers working on exploration mining projects. Manages the development, implementation and evaluation of complex designs. Oversees engineering and mining exploration activities in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Mining/Geology
• 15 years mining Industry experience / industrial-metallic mineral exploration experience or equivalent justification & experience in West Africa or other developing environments
• 5 years project management experience (grassroots & advanced projects)
• 2 years of Mine Geologist experience (OP & UG)
• Experienced in resource & geological modelling
• Excellent analytical & interpersonal skills
• Familiar with a variety of the mining exploration field's concepts, practices, and procedures
• Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
• Leads and directs the work of others
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

Key Performance Areas

• Management and co-ordination of geological exploration projects, the generation of work and the completion of technical consulting work
• This includes project, technical, personnel, health and safety and QC management
• Project management, documenting and rolling out technical best practice protocols, preparing proposals and conducting technical reviews
• Communicating project and division staffing needs to relevant parties, interviewing and mentoring of junior staff
• Site management of exploration programmes, field camps and personnel  
• Management of geological, geochemical, geophysical and drilling programmes  Implementation of RC drilling programme at advanced projects   
• Contractor and government relations and control
• Geological mapping  
• Managing district and property scale exploration programs  
• Licence/permit applications and securing through governmental agencies  
• Budget planning  
• Conducting and controlling soil, rock, trench and stream sampling  
• All statistical and QA/QC data handling and reporting  
• Executing company’s health and safety programme to the project
• Liaising with present and future clients
• Project generation – all commodities
