Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant

Location: Cardiff, Wales
Salary: Dependant on Experience

Job Summary:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant or Social Scientist/Engineer, working with a well-established international mining consultancy firm, to provide specialist consultancy services relating to ESIA, due diligence and mine closure planning.

Responsibilities:


The Environmental Consultant with be involved in the following:
• ESIA preparation and management
• Reviewing and interpreting data from co-ordinated fieldwork
• Input to scoping and feasibility studies for mining projects.
• Report writing and presentation of results
• Mentor and guide junior staff

Experience:

Essential requirements are:
• Proven experience of working within an environmental consultancy
• Degree or equivalent (natural resources, social related science or engineering), ideally with a higher degree in an environmental discipline.
• International project experience within mining industries (highly beneficial). Oil & gas, natural resources, quarrying or water sector experience also valuable.
• Knowledge of international environmental and/ or social standards (Equator Principles, Performance Standards, EHS Guidelines, ICCM guidelines).
• Understanding the bio-physical and social impact of mining activities.
• Knowledge of additional environmental disciplines such as water, geochemistry, noise, biodiversity/ ecology, social and cultural issues.
• Proven business development and project management skills.
• French language capabilities would be ideal.
• International travel for projects based both in the UK and abroad will be required. In return, a competitive salary is on offer, including benefits and a bonus based on performance.
