Ventilation Engineer

We are looking for a Ventilation Engineer who has current experience in services to the Production Services and Studies Project Manager. You will work collaterally with his/her peers in the Production Services and Studies group and cross functionally with all other areas of the operations to complete tasks in his/her area of accountability in the executions of the overall project plan. This is a permanent position based in Sudbury, ON.

Accountabilities:

• Coordinates internal and external Ventilation Engineering services for multi-disciplinary projects at various sites in a manner that will meet business needs and is in accordance with the company project management principles of Safety, Quality, Scope, Schedule, and Cost.
• Assists in the development of departmental work plans and schedules and the execution of assigned projects.
• Serve as the primary group Ventilation support for engineering.
• Works with the group to identify, develop and scope out ventilation design for studies in sufficient detail to secure engineering or other services as required to create execution documents.
• Periodically report on progress and budget adherence for engineering and Capital Projects to the group.
• Prepare Ventilation Design basis.
• Prepare, review and finalize airflow requirements.
• Prepare modeling simulation using Vnetpc, including fire simulation for risk assessment-fire protection plan for risk mitigation.
• Review fresh air and return air raises locations.
• Prepare list of fan duties and adjustment
• Prepare list of ventilation infrastructures such as fans, vent controls, doors and instrumentation.
• Prepare ventilation CAPEX and OPEX
• Input for construction schedule
• Prepare ventilation drawings and plans.
• Prepare LOMP for ventilation for production and development.
• Prepare diesel equipment list c/w horse power.
• Write ventilation report to be included in final study report.
• Other ventilation engineering related activities.

Education:

• An undergraduate degree and be a Professional Engineer for the past 5 years.

Experience:

• Will have a minimum of 5 years related (Canadian) experience within the mining & metals
• Continuous improvement training
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, Mine 2-4D and Ventilation modeling software Vnetpc is a must.
• Valid Drivers license required
