Senior Tailings Engineer (Mine Projects)

Due to ongoing major projects in Northern Ontario our client requires a Senior Tailings Engineer to support the substantial growth of their Mining Environmental Group.

The ideal candidate is a proven technical leader who has experience working in multi-disciplinary project teams, managing projects, mentoring and training staff, sustaining excellent client relationships and developing business.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and execute projects from conception to completion; including time and budget management and quality control
• Deliver projects successfully and be accountable for project planning and direction
• Take a leading technical role on major projects including: tailings storage design, dam design, and related mine engineering/operations for projects worldwide
• Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities, and cost estimates
• Maintain positive client relationships; Effectively develop new business
• Travel to project sites worldwide in Canada, Asia Pacific, and South America

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or equivalent
• Minimum 7 years of tailings management experience and dam design in the mining industry
• Knowledge of modeling, database and spreadsheet skills with a focus on tailings management
• Proven ability to serve as project manager for projects of varied scope
• Proven ability to lead technical teams; Provide project strategy/direction to the team and client
• Strong decision-making and interpersonal skills; must be able to work with a team of professionals
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Must be able to travel internationally
