Construction Manager

The Construction Manager will coordinate and control all on-site construction, including scheduling subcontractors and all subordinates, resolving day to day problems on the job site and inspecting all work during construction to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications, always focussing on the project goals of safety, time, budget and quality.

Location: This position will be based in Schefferville, however responsibilities will include working with and in the Toronto head office.

Responsibilities:

• Reports to the Project Manager.
• Chairs and facilitates project construction meetings with the client and major sub-contractors.
• Provides up to date construction progress and quality reports.
• Issues regular reports on construction performance.
• Ensures that the construction remains in accordance with safety, time, cost and quality targets.
• Manages all construction sub-contractors on site.
• Liaise with the head office design engineers on a regular basis.
• Provides technical support and leadership to the construction team.
• Maintains accurate records of all communication between the client, sub-contractors and suppliers.
• Maintains accurate quality control reports and data on site.
• Coordinates, communicates and assists in solving technical problems on site.
• Arranges all the logistics of site erection, from electricity, water, sewerage etc.
• Coordinates and oversees all construction disciplines from earthworks, civils, structural steel, platework, mechanical equipment, piping, valves and electrical switchgear.
• Enforces strict project time keeping controls on site.
• Ensures the compilation and distribution of weekly and monthly reports.
• Responsible for assisting and generating project schedules/timelines and GANNT charts.
• Assist with the commissioning of the plant, supporting from the commissioning manager.
• Responsible and accountable for managing the total safety programme on site.

Requirements:

• A degree in Mechanical / Civil Engineering would be preferable.
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in construction site management is essential.
• Experience in mining or minerals plant construction management is essential.
• Ability to communicate clearly on all levels.
