Chemical Process Engineer

Major Responsibilities

• Assist with day to day troubleshooting of the process in order to maximize the throughput of on-grade product.   This will include Asset Utilization Tracking and First Time Right Product Quality. Applies six sigma, LEAN and other operational excellence techniques to achieve improvements.
• Lead Area Improvement team (Lean / 5s)
• Take corrective action to address process deviations and find the root cause to prevent reoccurrences.
• Lead the development and execution of incremental capital and process improvements.
• Work with Production to generate Standard operating procedures, alarms, interlocks, and to train the operators.
• Assist with the introduction of new products into full scale production.
• Monitor Waste and Energy metrics and generate improvement plans.
• Coordinate and lead Process Hazards Analysis and Process Safety Startup review meetings.
• Investigate Customer Complaints where required.
• Provide relief for superintendant during absences.

Business/Technical Skills & Experiences Required:

• 5+ years experience with Continuous Improvement Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.  This position work in a process engineering but will require the leadership abilities in order to asssit in relief for leadership positions if required.
• Demonstrated leadership of other people or other multi-functional groups
• Mass and energy balance
• Six Sigma, Lean, 5s experience
• DCS, PLC, Automation experience
• Professional Engineer is an asset

Education "Required": B.Sc. in Chemical or Industrial Engineering

Education "Preferred": Six sigma Green Belt Certification, LEAN Manufacturing Experience
