Principle Metallurgist

Enjoy working for this key supplier of high quality Western Australian iron ore to major world markets. This company holds mining leases in the area of Western Australia’s mid-west region and is fast becoming a kay player in the countries iron ore industry.

The purpose of this role is to provide effective technical, cost and schedule management of all testwork programs, consultants and equipment suppliers. Provide input to process development activities, working closely with consultant and vendor Process Engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical, schedule and cost management of testwork programs.
  • Responsible for test work and flow sheet development
  • Initially work on feasibility study, then continue into front end engineering, design, construction and commissioning.
  • Take the testwork into process engineering design and equipment
  • The development of processes flow sheets (PFD’s and P&ID’s) based on testwork results
  • Preparation and or the review of equipment specifications
  • The review of equipment tenders for technical compliance
The following experience/skills are required for this positionThe successful candidate is required to have:
  • Tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy
  • Extensive testwork experience
  • Between 5 and 10 years experience in either large scale operations or engineering design  environment.
  • Some experience in development of a greenfields mineral processing project
  • Some exposure to plant commissioning
  • Supervisory experience is beneficial
