Plant Accountant

Position Summary:

• This staff level position is responsible for providing support for division management in decision making in the areas of finance and asset control.  It is also required to maintain and oversee the entire accounting function (AR, AP, Cost, Fixed Assets, Planning/Budgets Monthly ECR’s). 
• This function is concerned with the administration of the entire accounting function (AR, AP, Cost, Fixed Assets) payroll as well as accurate accounting and financial control for the plant.  Position involves the development of budgets, forecasts, cost information and financial control to assure the best return on investment.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction:

• May report directly to the Operations or Accounting Manager.  Responsible for the division accounting department functions, assuming all responsibilities for work, performance, and issues all plant accounting reports.
• The responsibility requires a close working relationship with all departments within the division to accomplish objectives in the accounting department.  Works closely with the Group Controller’s Department and Corporate Accounting Department in order to maintain corporate and divisional policies and practices.

Essential Functions:

• Assist Division Management in making financial based decisions.  Provides local management with financial and statistical information to enable them to better control operations.
• Provide information to Division, Group and Corporate on a monthly basis and as requested.
• Prepare or assist in the preparation of financial statements, reviews, budgets, forecasts, and analysis.
• Participate, coordinate and review month-end and year end closings and governmental reports and forms submittal.
• Initiates all reports as required by divisional and corporate accounting on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Oversee Payroll functions.
• Maintains Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Work with the IT Department to provide information for management decisions throughout the division.
• Insure compliance with corporate objectives and systems for accounting, payables, receivables, payroll and inventory operations as applicable.
• Auditing physical inventories
• Maintaining accurate raw material and finished goods stockroom inventories as well as accurate work in process inventory.
• Maintaining the asset inventory records.
• Establishes all inventory control procedures.
• Responsible for accounting distribution of obsolete and salvageable material.
• Responsible for all plant asset inventory controls.
• Train, develop, assist and instruct subordinate employees according to company policy and sound employee relations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Accounting
• 5-7 years of Accounting Experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, and Word)
• Certification or Advanced Degree Preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide Platform Units financial and operational reports and analysis of their monthly results and assist in the preparation of financial forecasts.
• Interface with Platform Managers, Product Line Managers, and the Supply Chain team on operational and finance issues, financial analysis and forecasting support.
• Participate in the month end close process, preparing inventory, sales, cost of sales, standard to actual cost journal entries, reconciliations and month end financial statements
• Support standard cost and inventory valuation at five US locations.
• Active participant in the implementation of Lean in Manufacturing and Finance.
• Provide support to Finance management with analysis and ad hoc reports in support of division and corporate reviews, audits and ad hoc requirements

Experience:

• Extensive experience with manufacturing cost systems, traditional and lean
• B.A./B.S. Accounting/Finance (required) M.B.A./C.M.A. highly desirable
• Financial leadership responsibility
• Knowledge of computers-PC Microsoft Office with a strong emphasis on Excel
• Travel 25%
