Hazardous Waste & Safety Officer

Job Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of proactive health, safety, and hazardous waste management programs. The individual must provide day-to-day support and guidance to staff and management in order to ensure the laboratory is operated within Federal, State and local regulations. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, implementing and managing chemical hazardous waste management program, equipment safety, emergency response, safety audits, ergonomic assessments and accident management / investigation, conduct and document safety training with new employees and to all staff in monthly safety meetings.

Qualifications

  • The individual should have at least 2 years’ experience in health and safety management. To be considered, candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Health, or other related scientific field. Specialized training in hazardous waste, ergonomics, industrial hygiene and radiation safety are desired but not required.
