Safety Coordinator

Westrail Construction Ltd. is a family owned and operated drilling and blasting company with over 30 years of industry experience. Well known in the mining industry, the company has taken on some of the largest and longest drilling and blasting projects in the Western Canada.

We are currently seeking for a Safety Coordinator to join the team immediately. The successful candidate will be responsible for starting up and maintaining an effective safety program.

Responsibilities:

Design and maintain an effective safety program

Facilitate monthly OHS meeting

Perform workplace inspections and accident investigations

Communicate with external safety inspectors

Handle safety audits

Manage WCB claims

Maintain first aid program and coordinate applicable external training

All other duties as needed by the manager

Facilitate monthly OHS meeting

Qualifications:

Formal certificate or diploma in occupational health and safety program or equivalent
2-3 yeras of previous solid work experience
Previous mining industry experience is preferred
Demonstrate ability to work as a team or as an independent
Strong and proven verbal and written communication skills
