Mining Manager

An internationally publicly listed Uranium mining company, operating in Swakopmund  Namibia are looking for quality resources expertise to join their operation for long-term employment in the Technical Services Department of the operation.

We herewith invite suitable qualified candidates to apply for the following position:

Purpose:

Extensive experience in mine engineering, mining operational project evaluations, geotechnical management, the incumbent will report to the Technical Services Manager overseeing a competent professional team to ensure the generation and implementation of mine plans resulting in the realization of mining production targets whilst ensuring the associated exploration, geotechnical and geological activities occur within the mining area.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, mentor and train the mining team in all aspects of mine planning and mine production to develop a cohesive and effective mining team
  • Manage pit optimizations, mine design and mining infrastructure layouts
  • Work closely with the geology and geotechnical teams within the department to ensure key activities and targets interact effectively.
  • Interact with the Processing department to consistently achieve target supply of ore to the crushers
  • Oversee construction of tailings storage facilities within the mining area and manage construction engineers and contractors.
  • The preparation of annual budgets, monthly production reports and project technical reports as required

Requirements:

  • BSc Degree / Diploma in Mining Engineering (or similar) 
  • At least 12 years experience within the mining industry in open pit, hard rock mine operations
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in an engineering discipline in a large hard rock open pit mining operation a combination with Mining Engineering exposure of open pit design ( particular Uranium / platinum – hard rock) and Geological production .
  • As the actual Mining operation is contracted out on the tender , this candidate has to liaise , manager both his Geological and Mining Engineering team , as well as the Contractors.
This a permanent position ( Work permit for +- 4-5yrs application) and not an expat fly in fly out scenario, and normal TCTC ( +- 100 -120pm) , Medical Aid / Provident Fund etc
