IT Specialist – Project Management

  • We are currently seeking an IT Specialist – Project Management. This one position can be located at our FishHawk, FL, Plymouth, MN or Regina, SK location. The IT Specialist – Project Management will manage, develop and mentor project teams to deliver solutions addressing the requirements as defined by the sponsor. Responsibilities will include defining milestones and tasks, assigning accountability and implementing project controls to ensure the successful delivery of high quality solution, on time and on budget.

What will you do?

  • Lead Assigned Projects:  Manage projects from initiation through delivery ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints. Work with internal/external clients to gather business requirements and coordinate project plans.  Identify project scope, develop implementation plan, engage key stakeholders, define and coordinate activities, communicate changes and progress, build commitment, overcome resistance and lead project teams.   
  • Lead Assigned Projects:  Ensure completion of project artifacts including project data, plan, schedule, progress, issues, resolution, risks, task completion, lessons learned, and variances. Escalate changes to project scope or plan to the appropriate manager and sponsor. Evaluate project risks, develop contingency plans, and respond quickly to changes in risk as the project progresses. Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner, set clear expectations, inspire and motivate others to perform well. Meet challenges with resourcefulness.
  • Auditing Services and Project Management Standards Education: Provide project management auditing services to projects.
  • Employee Development and Leadership:  Provide leadership and oversight to project managers as assigned. Mentor project managers and leaders in the concepts of the project management standards.  Develop and coach employees in order to retain and expand organizational talent through focused attention and effort.  Provide timely and constructive feedback on a regular basis to ensure employees have a clear understanding of their work, roles and the business. Manage performance issues when necessary. Work with employees on their career development plans.
  • IT Project Management Portal and Project Management Methodology:  Actively lead and participate in the support and maintenance of the IT Project Management Portal and project management methodology.  Generate suggestions for improving project management practices and methodologies.  Engage the department staff to transfer knowledge and educate personnel on effective project and process improvement methodologies.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Major in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or Technical Discipline preferred.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • 7+ years of project management experience
  • 4+ years of experience with leadership of large projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating and maintaining project charters, plans, status reports, budgets, estimates, communication plans and change management plans.
  • Track record of effectively managing conflict, resolving issue, mitigating risks and influencing senior leaders.
  • Experience in a wide variety of business functions and IT technologies related to both application and infrastructure area
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Project Server and Microsoft Office toolset.
  • SAP project management experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening  and presentation communication skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
  • Strong organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Strong abilities in priority setting, planning, structuring project deliverables and problem solving.
  • Ability to effectively work and create effective partnerships with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to anticipate and understand business strategies, objectives and priorities.
  • Strong leader that possesses a hands-on, lead by example approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective teams and successfully manage conflict.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a continually changing business and work environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and decision making skills.
  • Ability to innovatively tackle project related problems or issues.
  • Excellent analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to provide oversight across multiple initiatives or projects.
  • Must be agile in order to adjust to fast changing priorities.
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism, customer service, and enthusiasm.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
