This is a new opportunity for proven mechanical design engineer to join an autonomous and successful part of a larger multinational engineering company. The company is involved with the design, development and manufacture of an extensive range of off-highway construction and utility vehicles for a broad international customer base.
You will be working in an autonomous engineering and manufacturing business unit that is involved with the design, development and manufacture of heavy duty off road vehicles for use within agricultural, construction and a variety of other industry and application areas. You will work alongside mechanical, electrical and electronics design and development engineers, test, NPI and manufacturing professionals both on new and existing product developments and machine programmes.
As a principal mechanical design engineer you will report to the Engineering Manager but will get involved with leading the design and development of innovative and cost effective solutions for new products. Sometimes this will involved taking ownership of project delivery, quality and task allocation as well as mentoring engineering and assisting the engineering manager driving improvements in all aspects of the team's performance.
The nature of the work will be varied and challenging due to the broad variety of products and the ever changing demands of their mechanical structures.
The ideal candidate would be a proven and capable design engineer with extensive knowledge of off-highway vehicle and machinery design that can lead teams and projects to deliver new and innovative products and systems.

• HND / Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. mechanical engineering, agricultural / automotive engineering, structural engineering etc)
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and perhaps including FEA, structural analysis and hydraulics
• Strong mechanical design ability (working from requirements and specification through to test and validation)
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) coupled with passionate and enthusiastic drive for product delivery and innovation
• Knowledge of manufacturing and production processes coupled with NPI
• Use of high end 3D CAD and modelling tools (e.g. Unigraphics NX, etc)
• Able to lead / manage and mentor engineers
