Process Shop Tech C

Position Summary:

  • Reports to Process Shop Supervisor. 

Responsible for the following:

  • Install, maintain and repair piping systems, process equipment, vessels, heat exchangers, valves and fittings.  Replace catalyst and packing in plant process converters, reactors and towers.

Essential Functions:

  • Knowledge of Plant Safety Rules and Procedures, basic knowledge of plant operations, review of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Knowledge of hand tools and shop equipment.
  • Basic insulation practices.
  • Provide assistance to Maintenance Technician "A" & "B".
  • Install gaskets, packing, pipe supports etc.
  • Tests, inspects, dismantles, repairs, replaces, or installs any type of high or low pressure piping, fittings, and fixtures as required for maintenance of pipe lines for air, water, steam, oil, gas, acid, ammonia, ammonium nitrate, urea, hydrogen etc.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Performs all work within plant safety rules and procedures.
  • Decision Making Authority: Works under moderate supervision.
  • Other duties may be assigned within the capabilities of the successful candidate, as determined by management.
  • Major Challenges: Close mental and visual application required to interpret drawings, measure up and plan jobs.  Must be able to read and understand content of service manuals, blueprints, and other drawings.

Internal Requirements:

  • Education:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.  Previous Maintenance experience desired.
  • Experience:
  • Mechanical aptitude.  Knowledge of welding processes and equipment, and maintenance hand tools and their proper use.
  • Technical:
  • Should possess the technical aptitude necessary to learn about plant operations and plant equipment, as well as plant pressure equipment, and piping welding processes, and metallurgy.
