Environmental Construction Site Manager

Description

  • ERM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Construction Site Manager in our Decontamination, Decommissioning and Demolition (DDD) practice, to join our top-ranked global environmental consulting firm in Houston, TX.  As part of a growing and diverse local office, you will work on DDD sites the often are linked with complex site investigation, remediation, and environmental construction projects at a variety of oil & gas, industrial manufacturing, Superfund sites across the Gulf Coast.   In this role, you will be responsible for safe field implementation of DDD projects including tasks such as planning, coordinating and controlling of contractors and subcontractors and performing field oversight. You will also be responsible for executing the field project in full compliance with ERM’s and the client’s requirements and standards. You will work closely with the office-based ERM  Project Manager and Partner-in-Charge.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide field management and oversight of DDD projects.
  • Execute work in compliance with ERM and client health and safety standards and work procedures.
  • Plan and execute DDD projects, including leading constructability reviews, pre-construction conferences, supervision and direct field staff management, CQA/CQC oversight, client and progress meetings, subcontractor management, work progress and schedule management, on-site coordination, health and safety audits.
  • Prepare demolition bid packages and cost estimates, providing field oversight of contractors, subcontractors, and construction inspectors, and directing the progress of work.
  • Review contractor submittals, including but not limited to, Requests for Information, contract clarifications, contract-required submittals, change order requests, and other documents related to compliance with project specifications.
  • Coordinate the resolution of issues arising from the inspection process or from contract administration.
  • Plan and schedule on-site full- and part-time staff, evaluate subcontractor performance and schedules, and negotiate and resolve change order requests.
  • Provide liaison between field activities and in-house Project Manager, assume prime responsibility for assuring completion of projects in the field in conformance with project plans and specifications, and assure that clarifications and interpretations required for proper execution of the contract are implemented.
  • Interface with in-house Project Managers to identify and track upcoming DDD management requirements, meet with clients to identify upcoming work, and assist in business development activities, including preparation of proposals, interviews, and project contracting. 
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with ERM employees, clients, and subcontractors.

Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree and 5+ years of experience in demolition project work; or a minimum of 8 years’ experience in full-time demolition/construction/remedial project management.
  • Ability to provide excellent project delivery and client service, quality on project deliverables, excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including implementing strict Health and Safety protocols.
  • Working knowledge of contract requirements and experience with contract/scope of work dispute resolution.
  • Experiences with Microsoft Project or Primavera scheduling software.
  • Working knowledge of industrial hygiene and safety (for worker protection), asbestos abatement, RCRA waste management, and waste manifesting requirements.
  • Completed training and certifications for HAZWOPER Supervisor, DOT basic Hazmat awareness, OSHA 30-hour construction, and First Aid/CPR training.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Willing to travel and temporarily relocate to field assignments throughout the United States.
