Project Automation Lead

Description and Desired Qualifications

• Our Project Automation Lead role provides you with an opportunity to lead CAD efforts for manufacturing plant design projects. Each day you will work with a team of local and remote designers/technicians and engineers/architects to create models, drawings and documents using software tools and resources supporting our client's overall project goals and the firms overall design automation strategy. You should be a well-organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated professional. You should have a successful 5-year track record in engineering or architecture with a focus on CAD setup for design projects utilizing MicroStation and other Bentley Tools. In addition, you must have a two year technical degree, and have the desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each project.

Our Project Automation Lead:

• Oversees the CAD production of detailed design deliverables by our team of CAD professionals.
• Serves as a design drafting practice expert for a variety of manufacturing plant design projects.
• Works with internal and external engineers, architects, and project managers to determine project workflows and best approaches.
• Strengthens individual skill sets by being intimately familiar with [Company] CAD standards, tools and procedures to deliver work products.
• Will provide quality control and assurance review to projects.
• Displays strong communication and interpersonal skills and has the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
• Serves as resource for developing innovative methods for consistently meeting the project's scope, schedule, and budget in regard to drafting services.
• Provides leadership, mentoring and training for CAD technicians by sharing industry best practices for CAD and past experiences.
• Exhibits excellent documentation skills for establishing workflows, procedures, and project training material.
• Sets up project infrastructure to conform to project standards. This includes borders, pen tables, client standards, etc.
• Provides occasional training on core software, new tools, and work processes.

Basic Qualifications

• Associates Degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with use of design automation software
• Direct experience with MicroStation or MicroStation based products
• Experience with either Bentley BIM or a Bentley based plant design package

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in CAD setup using design automation software
• Experience as a lead designer managing large projects from conception, through design and delivery
• Experience in design work for multiple disciplines, including piping, HVAC, structural, architectural, and IC&E
• Direct experience with design automation software, utilizing MicroStation and other Bentley products
• Direct experience with design automation software, utilizing AutoCAD and other Autodesk products
• Experience with ProjectWise document management software
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts and ability to model in 3D
• Experience with at least one plant design system such as: OpenPlant, Plantspace, AutoPlant, or PDS

Degree Required

• Associates or 2 Year Degree
