Environmental Engineer

Description:

  • This Environmental Engineer will be based at our Torrance, CA facility. The essential functions of this position are:
  • Supports Torrance EHS Manager in the overall environmental process implementation and oversight
  • Write procedures and administer permit requirements
  • Recordkeeping
  • Assist in investigation of all major environmental non-compliance incidents
  • Coordinate the development of systems to ensure incident/quarterly metrics are kept per Alcoa guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements and Alcoa Standards
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (EHS)
  • Provide oversight for effective environmental ASAT performance and Stars input
  • Provide direction and oversight for the respective environmental Single Point Accountable (SPA's)
  • Annual hazardous waste training shall be completed by the Environmental Engineer
  • Coordinates written pollution prevention and minimization programs (including emission and release prevention) with production personnel at all departments at the facility to reduce the volume of manufacturing waste by-products from each department
  • Will establish permanent EHS files for all units under their control. These files must follow Company policies and procedures for records administration and retention.
  • Participates in continuing professional education. This means staying current and competent in the respective EHS profession through seminars, courses, literature review, participation in Alcoa Corporate audits, etc.
  • Prepares and submits permit application, reports and other required submittals as required submittals as assigned to Alcoa and all local, state and federal bodies

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have environmental regulatory compliance experience
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • BS degree in Environmental, Engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Degree
