Projects Portfolio Manager

An extractives organisation with global operations, seeks a Portfolio Manager with contracts management and/or project management experience to assume responsibility for entire projects from project definition and planning, to financing, contract preparation and tender process, public liaison, presentation to EXCO through execution and hand-over

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• BSc Degree / B-Eng Degree: Electrical / Industrial / Mechanical / Mining Engineering / Project Management
• PMP Certification or other relevant Project Management Qualification
• 15 years Mining Industry experience or equivalent justification & experience in West Africa or other developing environments
• Key Competencies
• Good knowledge and experience of mining and plant environment, both technical and operational
• Knowledge on various types of mines products and plant processes
• Good leadership skills, report writing skills, structured, reliable and self-disciplined

Job Specification

Must be willing to work on a rotational basis of 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off for the duration of the project (approximately 2 years) in West Africa

• Flights, Accommodation, food, laundry, equipment, transport to and from work and airports With a strong focus on community engagement, the role will also encompass areas of health and safety along with ensuring the site’s environmental compliance

Responsibilities include

• Establishment of project teams, recruitment
• Project estimation & feasibility
• Project approval / Expenditure approvals
• Managing team of Project Managers, some contracted in as consultants from outside the organisation
• Project engineering and Strategic planning
• Responsible for Service Level Agreements (SLAs), governance, audits, capital approval, commercial interfaces
• Responsible for all aspects of project management, i.e. all activities and responsibilities defined for each phase of the project life-cycle as set out and defined in the PMBok model
• Risk management / Cost management & measurement
• Contract management / Monitor & control of contractors
• Adjudication & dispute resolution
• Management reporting, performance reporting
• Closure & post-project reviews
