HR Manager

A Global Mining Company with exploratory projects in Guinea and Liberia currently has an opening for an a Human Resource Manager to tactically handle the human resource tools and attract talented people for the required job(s).

Work on a rotational basis of 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off for the duration of the project (approximately 2 years)

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • 15 years HR Generalist experience with 5 years in senior management role
  • Mining Industry experience or equivalent justification & experience in West Africa or other developing environments
  • Must be well acquainted with conditions of employment, remuneration, job-grading, recruitment, training and performance management as well as OD
  • Mining experience is essential

Educational Requirements

  • Graduate or Honours Degree in Human Resources / Industrial Law

Advantageous : 

  • Master's Degree or an MBA in Human Resource Management
  • Courses related to humanities, like public administration, psychology, sociology, political science, and economics are beneficial
  • Personality Traits of a Human Resource Manager
  • The various personality traits needed to be an excellent human resource manager are as follows:
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities
  • Strong presentation abilities
  • Ability to think out of the box
  • Very good initiation and negotiation skills

Job Specification

  • Assist Line Management with Personnel Cost Planning, Compile Budget presentations for approval
  • Manage Recruitment and Selection within area of responsibility
  • Prepare and complete management reports and analysis
  • Responsible for quality of SAP HR master data
  • Responsible for personnel Admin and related ELM transactions
  • Understands and supports Business goals by assisting Line Management with HR Employee Liecycle Management
  • Assist Line Management with talent management initiatives (eg leadership development, career management, corporate talent management process, performance management and development plans)
  • Support and advise line management in their execution of disciplinary and grievance hearings
  • Support the execution of Employment Equity, Diversity and organisational development initiatives
  • Facilitate the EAP referral process
  • Medical Incapacity cases are managed professionally and according to set policies and procedures
  • Liaison with Retirement funds and Pension funds to ensure documentation and process complies with the set standards and rules
  • Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls expenditure within approved parameters
  • Understands the key business drivers of the Business Unit and the interrelationships between other functions (i.e. Finance and Operations).Operates within HR service delivery standards and guidelines
  • Complies with HR service delivery metrics
  • Support HR Business Partner in ensuring successful implementation of HR infrastructure
  • Adhere to Safety Health and Environment programme goals and objectives
  • Cultivate a high performance focus and culture. Adopt and embrace and live company values
  • The entire process of recruitment is monitored by the Human Resource Manager - job posting, hiring, conducting recruitment exams (if any), and interviewing Maintain excellent professional relations with the recruitment agencies

Coaching the Employees

  • Induction and orientation lectures wherein the employees get to know the work culture of the company

Motivation and Performance Appraisal

  • Conducts sessions and lectures that keep the employees aware about the growing competition in the market and the need to constantly upgrade the skills of the employees. 
  • Performance management of employees monitored over a monthly or yearly basis and rewards, gifts, and prizes are distributed for exceptional performances

Salary and Payroll Negotiations

  • HR Department works in collaboration with the Accounts Department in salary related issues

Employee Satisfaction and Feedback

  • Handle all matters related to employee satisfaction using principles of conflict resolution to resolve differences among the employees and this leads to an efficient management of the workers
