Environment Analyst

A Global Mining Company with exploratory projects in Guinea and Liberia requires an experienced and qualified individual in mine environmental management. Work on a rotational basis of 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off for the duration of the project (approx 2 yrs).

Minimum Requirements

  • A diploma or degree in Environmental Management/Sciences
  • Computer Literate
  • The successful candidate must have at least five years’ experience as an environmental officer in a mining environment

Job Specification

Key Responsibilities

  • Scheduled and unscheduled site inspections to verify that proper sediment and erosion control practices are being utilized and that the job site is   in  compliance with the mine’s work permit
  • The position will also be responsible for interacting with clients in the field and with providing advice and consultation to the client when needed
  • Ensure the implementation of environmental policies and practices
  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation
  • Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling and environmental health
  • Conduct site inspections, monitoring and enforcing implementation of the EMPR commitments
  • Ensure implementation of and compliance with the mine’s authorizations and permits conditions
  • Implement a monitoring programme for water, waste, energy usage
  • Train staff at all levels on environmental issues and responsibilities
  • Conduct risk assessments as required
  • Ensure that incidents and accidents are properly reported, recorded and investigated
  • Compile and submit monthly reports
  • Implement and maintain environmental systems
