Health and Safety Analyst

A Global Mining Company with exploratory projects in Guinea and Liberia requires a Health & Safety Analyst to provide Health and Safety Inspections on mining projects.

Must be willing to work on a rotational basis of 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off for the duration of the project (approx 2 yrs).

Minimum Requirements

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is desired
  • Experience in occupational safety inspections and regulations
  • Experience in applying national occupational safety, health and environmental laws, policies, regulations, and standards, operational directives and methodologies, and objectives sufficient to conduct a comprehensive facility inspection
  • Skills in verbal communication and public relations techniques to prepare reports, letters, and completed staff work, of both a general and technical nature which will require precise use of engineering, technical and industry terminology
  • Computer literacy in word-processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software packages is required
  • Ability to function independently to conduct safety/health inspections, as well as within a group to collaboratively resolve issues

Job Specification

  • The areas of inspection will include facility housekeeping, slip, trip and fall hazards, personal protective equipment,
  • fall protection, electrical safety, fire and life safety, confined space entry, asbestos, lead, blood borne pathogens, hazard communication, tool safety, general work conditions, radiation safety, vehicle safety, employee health exposure, respiratory protection and indoor air quality
  • The candidate will review past inspections and trends, identifying areas that require focus in the next inspection and areas that need to be corrected during the last annual safety inspection
  • The candidate will then conduct the inspection and identify discrepancies that require resolution
  • This work may also include taking samples of potential or known chemical, physical, and biological hazards for analysis in accordance with country, state, and local regulations and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Support will also include functioning as part of a multi-disciplinary team to analyze hazards, research regulations, and provide professional judgment on occupational safety and health issues
  • This includes participation in meetings, travelling to field locations, conducting hazard assessments and providing written reports
