Lead Civil/Structural Designer

Lycopodium Minerals Canada is a world renowned engineering firm providing a ‘full suite’ of multi-disciplined consulting engineering services to the mining & minerals processing industry from conceptual studies through to feasibility analysis, detailed design, engineering and construction (EPCM) of processing and infrastructure facilities.

With an established Head Office in Perth Australia, and an ever increasing workload in our Mississauga office, we are well positioned to successfully execute projects around the world.

As a result of exponential growth in our Mississauga office, we are currently seeking a Lead Civil/Structural Designer to join our team environment.

This position will see the applicant being involved in all parts of a working design office and will include but not be limited to accountabilities in:

  • Plant design structural layout from concept through to project level
  • Production of design drawings that are consistent with industry standard techniques
  • Quality control and checking of design drawings
  • Implementing and compliance to Lycopodium drawing office and CAD standards and procedures

Working closely with and reporting to the Principal Designer the ideal applicant shall have:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil/structural design drafting
  • Previous experience with reinforced concrete design including reinforcing details, HD bolt patterns and embedded items
  • Industry experience in mineral processing plant structural building layouts and preparation of stick diagrams, connection details, flooring layouts, stair towers
  • Current working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD (preferably both)
  • Structural and industrial architectural design knowledge is desirable
  • A sound understanding of industry standard fabrication and construction techniques
  • The ability to undertake general scheduling and budgeting tasks
  • The ability to resource manage
  • The necessary background and experience to work without direct supervision
  • A commitment to continued professional development
