This Modern and progressive Engineering Consultancy is well respected throughout Ontario for their innovative approach to challenging projects and their attention to detail. They service many public and private clients and have developed a well-respected name from the quality project they deliver.
The Role
Currently, my client is seeking a motivated and self-directed Senior Water Resources professional with a minimum of 10 years' experience in environmental impact assessments, environmental compliance, and regulatory support to lead the Water Resources Group in their Peterbrough office. The clients include MTO, Municipals and private developers. The Water Resources Manager will act as the coordinator and technical lead for the water quality and hydrogeology group, which provides services to the office's environmental and engineering divisions. The position will report directly to the Environmental Group Manager.
Primary duties include developing the office's capabilities and services in the areas of hydrochemistry and hydrogeology, as well as mentoring junior staff. The successful candidate will possess proven technical skills, extensive project management experience, and excellent interpersonal abilities, and will be expected to engage in promotion and marketing for the group with both established and prospective clients.
The responsibilities
- Lead and manage the hydrogeology component for projects, providing project and technical leadership on complex, multi-disciplined projects including: managing budget, schedule, regulatory and contractual commitments.
- Develop technical approaches for hydrologic characterization of groundwater systems.
- Develop and implement technical approaches for numerical analysis of groundwater and surface water systems in support of Land development, MTO and Municipal projects, and site remediation as necessary.
- Direct, mentor, and develop others and serve as a resource to others in the company in the area of hydrogeology and water resources.
- Work collaboratively, build effective relationships with others, and communicate effectively across all levels within the organization.
- Travel as required for site reconnaissance, field work, technical expertise, regulatory support, and/or other client/business objectives.
Qualifications required
- Bachelor of Science (Civil/Geology/Hydrogeology) or a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Hydrological/Geology).
- Master's degree in Geology/Hydrogeology/Water Resources/Geochemistry and/or equivalent experience in the engineering/mining industry strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience with hydrologic and hydrogeologic investigations in municipal, MTO and/or Land development.
- Proven experience demonstrating project and technical leadership on complex, multi-disciplined projects including managing budget, schedule, regulatory, and contractual commitments.
- Significant knowledge and ability with numerical modeling software.
- Previous experience in all aspects of water resources in Ontario
- Previous experience providing regulatory support with regard to permitting and compliance requirements of MTO and/or municipal projects.
- Proven experience managing technical personnel and a track record of building a team, with previous knowledge of the Ontario industry codes.
