Foundry Engineering Technologist / Metallurgist

Pasona Canada is currently accepting resumes for the following professional opportunity on behalf of our client in the area of Barrie, Ontario. Our client is a world-class foundry and metals fabricator.  They are a leading supplier of high quality alloy-steel casting and assemblies for many industries including: Direct Reduced Iron Industrial Furnace, Pulp and Paper, Petrochemical, Aluminum, Nuclear, Cement, Mining, and Steel.

Position:    Foundry Engineering Technologist / Metallurgist

Product/Industry: Manufacture

Location: Near Barrie, ONTARIO

Position Responsibilities

Summary:  Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Foundry Engineering Technologist is responsible for preparing quotations and costing, formulating and implementing sound production practices for identifying and promoting improvement in the Centrifugal and Static Casting Foundry facets of the Engineering Department.

Description:

  • Develop and process cost effective centrifugal foundry and fabrication procedures. Generate manufacturing routings for centrifugal casting foundry, machine shop and fabrication areas.
  • Prepare complete estimates for customer quotes for all centrifugal cast products and fabricated assemblies.
  • Formulate manufacturing methods to meet quality and production requirement, design and purchase required patterns, tooling, jigs and fixtures necessary for production and within budget and delivery dates.
  • Manage scheduling, design and engineering for new vertical and horizontal dies and modifications.
  • Manage and coordinate projects dealing with outside manufacturers/subcontractors effectively
  • Implement, install and issue manufacturing instructions
  • Perform other related jobs as required by supervisor
  • Provide and ensure a smooth transfer of technology between various divisions
  • Perform other related jobs as required by supervisor

Requirements:

  • Min 2 years industrial experience in metallurgy and/or welding technology
  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy or Material Engineering
  • Foundry welding and fabrication preferably with in-plant experience
  • Previous experience in dealing with outside manufacturers/subcontractors is an asset
  • Knowledge of the ASME pressure vessel and boiler code
  • Good interpersonal skills so as to maintain effective communication

Compensation: $40,000-50,000 per year
