Our client, a Mid Tier Mining firm is looking to add a Senior person to the Regional Development Office in Central BC.

This person will be involved in implementing Environmental Policies and obtaining required Permitting for Exploration, Advanced and current Operating projects.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Environment & Governmental Affairs, the Manager is responsible for progressing the company's projects with particular focus on New Prosperity through managing the permitting process, communications with regulatory agencies and the development and implementation of environmental management programs consistent with legislation, regulations and project commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Knows responsibilities related to the company's Environmental management System (EMS)
  • Develops and implements the department's environmental goals & objectives
  • Knows the company policies, procedures and legislated environmental laws and regulations.
  • Develops and implements company procedures and systems to support mines Environmental policy and the principles of Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM)
  • Assists operations in the design and implementation of environmental monitoring and research programs in support of operations and progressing projects.
  • Interfaces with government agencies and the public to reinforce the company's mandate to implement high standards in regard to the environment and responsible project development.
  • Identifies, tracks and provides timely feedback to management on regulatory agencies and community concerns and issues being raised as a result of project development and recommend action plans to mitigate issues.
  • Prepares applications for new permits and approvals, license renewals or permit amendments.
  • Will have budgetary responsibilities including adherence to accounting policies and principals.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Natural Resources or Environmental Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years + experience in environmental management, regulatory affairs and corporate responsibility ideally in the Mining Sector.
  • High Ethical standards, accountability and integrity
  • Strong interaction with Government agencies
