Resource Technician: Survey and Sampling

A vacancy is available for a Resource Technician: Survey & Sampling situated in the Burgersfort area, reporting to the Shaft Surveyor/Valuator.

Minimum Requirements

  • COM Advanced Survey and Valuation Certificates.
  • Minimum Grade 12 Maths and Science at NQF level 4
  • Three years practical survey and evaluation experience in mining industry
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the MRM,GMSI Pegs & MS Office Package
  • Knowledge of Rock Saw Certificate
  • Total station software would be advantageous
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Safety Regulations and Mine Safety Standards as well as applicable survey mine standards
  • Intermediate Level: Business Understanding, safety and Health, Business Communication Skills
  • Valid Code 8 Drivers Licence

Job Specification

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, co-ordinate and check survey fieldwork in accordance with the Minerals Act 50 of 1991 and the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 or any subsequent or relevant legislation
  • Ability and proficiency in spread sheets transfer of data between various survey software packages Cads mine / Micro station, GMSI Pegs Lite.
  • Measure and quantify underground excavations accurately, and calculate volumes and tonnages of various rock types’
  •  Identify different ore types, and differentiate between high grade, low grade and waste rock.
  • Report accurately and timeously on data captured
  • Produce required production stoping and development plans
  • Survey notes.
  • Correct and accurate installing of survey pegs
