Assembler Welder (Mechanic)

Responsibilities

Predominant Tasks Include:

  • Disassemble and reassemble complete machines and components, report failure analysis, and accurately order replacement parts.
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings, schematic, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems.
  • Recognize and react to correct shimming needs of bearings and gears.
  • Work in a safe and cost effective manner.
  • Work the hours necessary to complete the requirements of the job.
  • Insure proper labor reporting.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Tools used include:

  • Hoist, tow motor, surface grinder, torches, welders, pressure shot blaster and sand blaster, steam cleaner, small drill press, plasma cutter, large and small hand tools, hydraulic and pneumatic torque wrenches, inspection equipment, power center. Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates must have a trade school certification, associate’s degree or a minimum of two years related work experience. Must possess the knowledge to read and understand complex mechanical drawings, schematics, etc. A minimum of two years in a mechanical assembly environment or the equivalent experience in mining machinery repair is strongly preferred. The incumbent must be able to function independently with a minimum of supervision. Must also be able to handle heavy weights up to 80 lbs. and function for a minimum of eight hours in positions which may be physically demanding.
