Mechanical Design Engineer (Solidworks)
(Fabrications, Structural Steel, Medium to Heavy Engineering Background)
£25 p/h Ltd, 3-6 Month Contract, Immediate Start

With major blue chip companies investing heavily in new capital equipment, this renowned supplier of heavy engineering solutions has experienced a major upturn in work throughout 2011 and has exciting plans to invest and grow consistently over the next few years. Due to this high workload, the company urgently needs to recruit an experienced Solidworks design engineer to complete these key projects within time constraints and to client budgets
The role will involve:
• Working with a lead engineer to understand specifications.
• Liaising with the customer throughout the process.
• Detail design using Solidworks. Mostly modelling and draughting but could be elements of design.
• Working on structural steel and tank fabrications (all heavy engineering). Could also be working on access ladders, platforms, building bridges over tanks and other general engineering work.
The successful candidate must possess the following key skills and experience:
• Proficient in Solidworks.
• Experience with the design of fabrications and structural steel.
• Medium to heavy engineering background - examples could include special purpose machinery, conveyors, cranes, tanks, water, nuclear, mining, screens, crushers, vessels, oil and gas, petro-chemical, etc.
• Practical engineering background - can problem solve, potentially do some elements of design.
• An engineering qualification - could be apprenticed, HNC, Full Tech Certificate or City and Guilds.
