Reporting to: The VP Project Development
Position Overview
•Develop a strong business improvement and cost control culture within the Process Plant
•Manage the team of metallurgists and laboratory staff across all production shifts
•Manage the team of metallurgists and laboratory staff to prepare technical reports on production statistics and technical issues that arise.
•Manage a team of metallurgists to undertake process modelling, conduct technical operating and capital budgets
•Ensure maintenance safety is designed and constructed into the mine process plant.
•Lead implementation and execution of the Iron Ore Mine Management standards.
•Provide technical stewardship overarching process plant Lump and Fines product and sub-circuit quality control systems
•Lead technical teams in development of process improvement initiatives
•Actively participate, providing technical leadership and metallurgical resources in the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational handover of process equipment and plant.
•Manage mine site and port laboratory technical development.
•Manage the scoping, tender and award of external metallurgical test work programs as require
Essential Selection Criteria:
•Relevant tertiary qualification in Metallurgical or Chemical engineering (Is a Must)
•Experience in start-up operations and commissioning with a focus on large scale mining and processing operations.
•Ability to establish efficient and productive systems and processes.
•At least 12 years or more experience in mining and mineral processing. Preferably some substantial time spent in Iron Ore. Large scale mining experience required (50-60 Million MT Iron Ore)
•Ability to engage and manage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
•Demonstrated management/leadership ability
•Demonstrated project management skills
