Operations Accounting Manager
Job Responsibilities:
- [Company] is currently seeking an Operations Accounting Manager for the Atlanta, GA office. This individual will report directly to the Controller of [Company] (GAI) and oversees the operational and project accounting functions of GAI and subsidiaries. Manages the Regional Accounting Managers (RAMs) and oversees the day to day activities of the shared resources accounting department. Helps ensure that operational practices and processes comply with company policy, IFRS, and governmental agencies. Provides support with other special activities as assigned by the Controller including development of policies and procedures, mergers and acquisitions, audits, and training.
Position Responsibility:
- Oversight of operational and project accounting including but not limited to:
- Responsible for the company's Project Set-Up, Billing, and Revenue Recognition functions
- Ensures Accounts Receivable (AR) and Work-in-Process (WIP) accounts are properly stated, reviewed, and reconciled
- Ensures that Project Set-up and Billing functions are meeting the company's needs
- Ensures the company's financial systems are meeting Office Managers' (OMs) and Project Managers' (PMs) informational needs
- Provides operational data and analysis to OMs, PMs, and Regional Leaders
- Provides support to the VP of Operations and Regional Leaders as needed
- Manages the RAMs and oversees the shared resources accounting department:
- Provides direction and support on the company's financial systems and various operations accounting issues
- Provides direction and support on Project Set-Up, Billing, Revenue Recognition and WIP reconciliation processes
- Reviews work as necessary and is able to perform their duties if required
- Ensures shared resources accounting staff are properly trained and perform their duties timely and accurately
- Assists with the recruiting and hiring of shared resources staff and provides input on staff performance
- Operational and project accounting process compliance:
- Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures
- Ensures operational transactions are performed in accordance with IFRS
- Ensures the company is in compliance with various local, state, and federal government agencies' accounting regulations
- Supports the Controller and OMs with the annual budgeting process.
- Assist the Controller with managing the company's annual overhead rate audit conducted by an independent accounting firm.
- Actively participate in the company's annual audit/review process conducted by an independent accounting firm.
- Actively participate in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures, and identify process improvement opportunities when possible.
- Assist and support in the company's merger and acquisition process. Activities could include preparation of target company valuation analysis, financial due diligence, integration and training support.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree from an accredited curriculum in accounting or finance;
- Seven or more years of relevant experience;
- CPA or MBA preferred.
