RESPEC, a nationally recognized engineering consulting firm with international projects, seeks an experienced individual to assist in client development, operations, talent management, and management of projects involving underground storage facilities and mines. This position requires knowledge and experience in RESPEC’s general areas of expertise in mining engineering, mine design, and rock mechanics. This position, as Manager of the Mining & Geological Engineering (M&GE) group, is within the company’s Mining and Energy Division. The M&GE group performs technical services in support of hard rock, salt, and potash mining, along with underground construction and storage that include mine design, ground-support inspections, rock-mechanics analysis, and geotechnical instrumentation and data analysis. This Manager interfaces with the other groups (Geomechanics and Materials Testing) in the Mining and Energy Division to develop clients and expand services and solutions within the Division. The individual will be located in the RESPEC Corporate Headquarters in Rapid City, South Dakota. Some travel will be associated with the position.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a Master of Science degree in mining or geological engineering along with ten years consulting experience in a similar mining/geological engineering setting. Direct experience with mine design is desired. As face-to-face contact with a variety of clients is essential, the candidate must have both excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
