Production Control Manager

The Opportunity

The Production Control Manager will oversee all activities of Production Planning and Order Management through the complete production cycle, including fabrication, machining, assembly, test, inspection and shipment. This position works closely with manufacturing, engineering, and operations program management to ensure effective flow of work in process to meet shipment and revenue schedules.

Job Responsibilities

• The Production Control Manager supervises a growing production control and order management staff.
• This Manager participates in staff selection, performance management (including evaluation and discipline), coaching, training and employee development, and ensuring compliance to legal and company requirements.
• Actively develops a high performance team with the skills needed to effectively plan production and ensure WIP flow.
• Proactively works toward continuous improvement of processes and systems used in planning and scheduling production to improve schedule to shipment linearity.
• Actively participates and/or leads implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques.
• Develops and establishes effective work processes for production planning, including applicable use of ERP/MRP system and identification of continuous improvement opportunities. Ensures adherence to standard work procedures through employee training and feedback and addressing non-compliance.
• Monitors schedules and reports to pro-actively identify potential bottlenecks and works with planners to ensure accurate and timely information is provided to production/purchasing and management staff.
• Performs production planning activities as required to support revenue objectives.
• Developes, Identifies, tracks and reports applicable metrics of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor and understand team and company performance and improvement opportunities. Provides reports to senior management and other departments of production status, variance to schedule, issues  and other production planning information needed to make good management decisions.
• Demonstrates leadership skills by influencing and mentoring others and behaving in accordance with the IMW/CE Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

• Degree in Operations Management or related field, required
• Certified Production Inventory Manager (CPIM) is preferred
• 5 - 10 years experience in a production control/planning, materials, scheduling and manufacturing in an ETO, or MTO environment
• A minimum of 5 years in a Supervisory role with the ability to lead, inspire, motivate, coach, mentor and engage employees. Ability to manage a diverse, multi-cultural workforce
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and techniques strongly preferred
• Strong written (report writing and email) and verbal communication skills with an ability to interact with all areas of the Company, including; Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Sales.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Strong skills in ERP / MRP systems
• Strong skills in Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 7 OS. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook primarily)
• The applicant will be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills, judgement and decision making with the ability to adapt to an always changing, fast moving environment
• Ability to work under pressure
