Sales Engineer

  • The position is strategic to Company business, as multimillion Rand decisions are based on the specialist’s recommendations around best value to customers; the commercial interests of the company and the provision of best practice technical support.
  • Apart from growing and maintaining client relationships, the role requires an individual with the confidence to organize and run technical seminars and presentations.
  • In addition, there is a need to analyze the data collected from clients to determine the effectiveness of solutions recommended and to enable adjustment as required. 
  • Regular local travel to clients is required, not normally more than a maximum of two hours’ drive from Johannesburg. 
  • Some trips through Africa may also be undertaken if required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key Customer Relationship Management
  • Handling client’s technical enquiries and offering milling optimization assistance;
  • Using milling circuit modelling and simulation software to evaluate plant efficiencies;
  • Prepare and maintain a customer database of circuits, throughputs and product specifications;
  • Liaise with and visit customers to ensure satisfaction
  • Acquire new business and assess market demand;
  • Prepare quotations, tenders and pro-forma invoices;
  • Plan and follow up daily dispatch schedules to ensure sales targets are met
  • Involvement in the annual reviewing of global activities and developments, pertaining to the Grinding Media business at technical seminars is required.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in the Extractive Metallurgical field
  • Sales and Marketing qualifications would be desirable

Experience and Skills required:

  • Must be a self starter
  • Must have common sense for work ethics
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills essential
  • Practical process experience of at least 5 years is essential and must have encompassed running a concentrator in a mining environment. 
  • The ideal candidate must be a product/process specialist who will provide clients with product application support.
  • Computer literacy essential e.g. must be proficient in designing PowerPoint presentations. 
  • Other PC packages have been developed to assist in the assessment and selection of the best product for the mills, therefore, prior exposure to programmes of this nature will be advantageous.
