Electromechanical Technician

  • Lehigh Hanson’s North Region has a vacancy for an Electrician / Mechanic at its Brooklyn, NY Cement Terminal.

Summary:

  • This position reports to the Terminal Manager and is responsible for supporting mechanical maintenance for the Brooklyn terminal, also must help in other areas if required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive and repair maintenance work.
  • Actively participate in the plant’s safety program through use and knowledge of safety rules and regulations (OSHA knowledge preferred)
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues to include hydraulics, pneumatics, power supply and controls.
  • Knowledge of material flow and process in order to perform safe and efficient maintenance.
  • Work closely with Terminal Manager & Regional Manager to meet goals & objectives.
  • Continuously seek and offer ways to improve the maintenance and reliability of the terminal.
  • Participate in the scheduled weekend work rotation program as needed.
  • Various shift assignments may be required during major repairs/shutdowns.
  • The individual will be responsible to learn the complete operation of the cement terminal & be willing to work extended hours.
  • The individual will be required to follow a maintenance schedule for all the machinery on the barge & the pier.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Able to work on / troubleshoot 1500KW generators.
  • Previous experience in cement or related industry a plus
  • Good communication skills
  • Good technical knowledge, hardware and software, with computers
  • Good mechanical and electrical ability with an emphasis on power supply and controls, PLC’s, and interpreting diagrams
  • Good organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work in a Total Quality and team environment.
  • 5 + years’ experience in industrial maintenance work, including equipment failure & troubleshooting.
  • Experience in successful implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
  • Marine vessel knowledge a plus
